Our Ambassadors

Lucy is one of Britain's finest pianists and has performed throughout the UK and Europe, South Africa, USA, Canada and Russia. In recent years, Lucy has established herself as a leading interpreter of the works of Robert Schumann and of his wife, Clara. Her unique recording of both Robert’s and Clara’s piano concertos was named Critics’ Choice of the Year by BBC Music Magazine.

Lucy says...

"I am delighted to be an ambassador for the Cheryl King Trust. The access to music lessons is sadly becoming increasingly challenging, so the Trust aims to help those in Surrey who need it most. A wonderful and important charity!"

Jonathan is currently Musical Director of the Guildford Choral Society, the Chichester Singers, the Leith Hill Musical Festival and the professional chamber orchestra Southern Pro Musica. Freelance conducting and workshop engagements in recent seasons have taken him to many parts of the world including USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, China and most of the European countries as well as the United Kingdom.

Will Todd is well known for his beautiful and exciting music. His anthem, The Call of Wisdom, was performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations with a TV audience of 45 million people. As at home on television and radio as he is while presenting his music during choral workshops and performances, Will is no stranger to large audiences. His naturally engaging personality and innate enthusiasm for the power of music to build communities across the amateur and professional worlds have led to him becoming a popular and sought-after frontman. As a conductor, Will is popular with both choristers and instrumentalists with an innate understanding of many different genres.

Will says...

The importance of making sure all children have the possibility of learning musical instruments, regardless of financial circumstances, is a vital ingredient to sustaining and nurturing a diverse future for music at every level."

Sarah Walker is a BBC Radio 3 presenter and the regular host of Sunday Morning, a programme of music and comment every Sunday at 9am. Born in Barnsley where her earliest enthusiasms were music, art, writing and making taped 'radio shows' for her friends. She studied music at Royal Holloway College and Reading University, where she specialised in performance. Since then she has worked as a broadcaster, pianist and teacher.

John has a glittering career playing with the likes of Rush Release, Icarus, Abednego, Darryl Way's Wolf, Global Village Trucking Company, The Soft Machine, Stephane Grappelli, Second Vision, John Etheridge/Ric Sanders Group, Etheridge/Torff, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Birelli Lagrene, John Etheridge Trio, Elton Dean/John Etheridge Quartet, Danny Thompson's Whatever, Nigel Kennedy, Andy Summers, WEB (Williams, Etheridge, Bebey).

John was born in Chobham and went to school in Guildford so he has a big connection with Surrey.

An ex-Guildford High School pupil, Sophie came to international attention when she was selected from hundreds of cellists worldwide for a leading role in the film TÁR, starring Cate Blanchett.  Her debut album Unsung was recently released by Deutsche Grammophon when she became the youngest artist ever to reach no 1 on the Classical On-Demand Audio Streaming Chart. She is a Classic FM ‘Rising Star,’ and was chosen by the Times as the Classical Breakthrough nominee for the 2023 South Bank Sky Arts Awards.
